Emily is a specialist Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and Fertility Specialist. Her main interests are in normal and high-risk obstetrics, general gynaecology, fertility, adolescent gynaecology, IVF and reproductive medicine. With a compassionate and easy-going personality and holistic approach to medicine, Emily takes pride in sharing the healthcare journey with her patients.
Emily grew up in regional Victoria, before moving to Melbourne to complete her undergraduate medical training (MBBS, Monash University 2006). During her early residency years Emily gained broad experience, but quickly realised that O&G and women’s health was for her. In 2009 Emily commenced Obstetrics & Gynaecology training at the Royal Women’s Hospital, Melbourne.
During fellowship training, Emily worked across multiple hospital sites, gaining extensive obstetric and gynaecology expertise, including addition training in ultrasound, advanced laparoscopic surgery and quality assurance in healthcare. Both during training, and as a specialist, Emily has been an active member within the Royal Australia & New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, representing trainee doctors on multiple committees (2014-2016) and more recently as a Tasmanian Regional Committee member.
In 2017 Emily and her family moved to Tasmania, and they now call Hobart home! She trained as a fertility specialist alongside Dr Bill Watkins at TasIVF, and completed her Masters of Reproductive Medicine (University of NSW).
Emily provides fertility care and IVF treatment through TasIVF and is the Medical Advisory Committee Chair for Hobart Specialist Day Hospital (HSDH). Eternal Women’s Health, TasIVF and HSDH are co-located at 2 Melville Street, which enables Emily to minimise disruption to patient care, providing continuity of care and service for her patients. Emily thrives on providing this model of comprehensive care to women and their families through all stages of life.
Emily provides surgical care at both HSDH and Hobart Private Hospital, including IVF procedures, hysteroscopic surgery, advanced laparoscopy (eg. excision of endometriosis) and laparoscopic hysterectomy. Emily provides obstetric services at Hobart Private Hospital, with admitting privileges at the Royal Hobart Hospital should the need arise.
When she isn’t working, you can find Emily sipping a latte, spending time with her four legged friends (dogs and horses), running around a hockey pitch or spending time with her family – husband Chris and young daughters, Eadie and Frankie.
Emily consults on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
